Chapter 26: Mr. Keo's Pure Lao Shop

I have met Mr. Keo two years ago in my brief visit to Luang Prabang. Then 26, he had a small textile shop just off the center of the town, he and I discussed all the possibility of expanding his business using internet, taking order directly from overseas and shipping. I took some photos of his shop and products then, however I became busy upon returning to the states, neglected all that I promised him.

so I revisit his shop, hoping to explain all of that and resume our friendship again. He indeed remembers me and with pleasure shows me his newly renovated larger shop.

his textiles are all handmade, with one weaving machine and one sewing machine. he designs all the detailed patterns and his family friend spins and weaves. one scarf can take two to three months to complete.

upstairs they have a spacious show room. they are in a process of getting a bed and some furniture, but for now, they display some of their most sophisticated works on the walls and the racks

look at these beautiful details

Mr. Keo, his wife Ms. Gai and their family friend weaver. Their products isn’t cheap, for the quality of them is exceptional, a scarf (30cm x 120cm, approx.) sells from 20 USD, and some of their large (100cm x 200cm) 100% silk tapestry can be 80USD or more. But if you are so interested, you can contact me, or them directly at sengkeo2006@yahoo.com and gaiinlaos@hotmail.com or x856(Laos)-7165-3312
